Willie Hatfield

October 21, 1939 — March 20, 2021

Willie Gene Hatfield, 81, of Frakes, KY, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 20th , 2021.  He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

He was born October 21, 1939, the son of the late Dewey “Pejib” Hatfield and Nona Partin Hatfield who survives.

Willie was a loving husband and father who loved spending time with his family.  He was a lifelong coal miner, working for Consolidation Coal Company for 22 years, and member of the UMWA.  He was faithful member of New Vine Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and nature lover.  He had a way of seeing beauty in everything noticing the smallest details that most would overlook.

In addition to his father, Dewey Hatfield, he was also preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, James Hatfield and Dora Marie Hatfield.

Willie is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sara Lou.  Also, left to remember him: Mother Nona Hatfield; Children - Jennifer (Perry) Cobb of Powell TN, Randal (Charlotte) Hatfield of Frakes KY, Lisa (Junior) Maiden of Middlesboro KY, and Jessica (Snoopy) Jones of Frakes KY; Grandchildren – Perry Lynn (Melanie) Cobb, Travis (Carrie) Cobb, Randi (Jeromy) Collins, Isaac Maiden, Rachel Maiden, Shelton Jones; Great-Grandchildren – Katherine Cobb, Stephanie Hatfield, Harley Hatfield, Ethan Greer, Ellie (Mathen) Stafford, Zack (Taylor) Greer, Madison Collins; Great-Great-Grandchildren – Evelie Stafford, Bella and Daisy Mae Greer, Oceana Smalls; Sisters – Anna Faye (Wayland) Miracle, Judy (Sam) Partin, Vanessa (Rickie) Dixon, Clara Sue (Phillip) Miracle.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, his loving Miracle family that considered him a brother, and his church family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dana Akins and Rev. Lee Mahan presiding.  Music will be provided by the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church Choir and his sisters, Clara Sue Miracle and Vanessa Dixon.

Interment will follow in the New Vine Cemetery with his Grandsons serving as pallbearers.

The Hatfield Family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at the New Vine Missionary Baptist Church.
