Lorene Lawson

Lorene Lawson, age 88 of Middlesboro, KY went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at her home.  She was born on September 9, 1931, the daughter of the late Zeb and Icia Rykard.

She was a devoted woman of God, wife, mother, great-grandmother and was a blessing to know.  She was of the Baptist faith and a longtime member of Garmeda Baptist Church.  Even though her health kept her from going to church, she kept her witness strong by showing the love of Christ to all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Pamela (Cathy) Maiden, Joan Bussell and Daniel Lawson; one granddaughter, Amy Settles; and two brothers, Paul Rykard and James Rykard.

She is survived by the following members of her family whom she loved dearly:

Daughters, Icia Sweat and Renee Lawson, both of Middlesboro, KY

Grandchildren, Benny Settles, Amber Shay Maiden, Kara Beth Cole, Adam Jones, Daniel Sweat, Nikki Frasier, Shaynabeth Bussell and Cameron McMurray

Great-Grandchildren, Tony Settles, Tanner Settles, Dylan Settles, Anyan McCarty, Amora Russell, Zaedy West, Megan Hall, Axle Sweat, Justice Sweat, Dominic Sweat, Lilly Baker and Rayc England

Great, Great-Grandchildren, Greyson Settles, Paisley Settles and Terrance Carrol

Two special sister-in laws, Betty Rykard and Connie Nern

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel in Middlesboro, KY.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David King and Rev. Astor Simpson officiating.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.  Graveside service will immediately follow at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY.
