Jimmy Ledford Thompson, age 75 of Lafollette, TN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 24, 2020.  He was born November 11, 1944, the son of the late Daniel Boone Thompson and Bertha Fuson Thompson.  Jim retired from the United Telephone System and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He was a member of the Long Hollow Missionary Baptist Church and a longtime member of Hensley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where he was a deacon.   Jim spent many years with his family singing in churches from Michigan to Tennessee.  He was a very devoted and faithful Christian for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Nicole Thompson; and sisters, Marie Jones, Bonnie Leis and Inez Black.

Jim leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of almost 54 years, Carolyn Wilder Thompson; his children, daughter Vanessa (Brian) Hittepole; sons, Derek (Jackie)Thompson and Aaron (Marybeth) Thompson; grandchildren, Austin (Makayla), Amanda, Tyler, Daniel, Candon, Cory, Morgan, Keaton, Adelyn and Elijah. Four great-grandchildren and one on the way.  In addition to other family and friends.

Due to the COVID pandemic, the Thompson family request that all services be held outdoors.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm with the funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm, at the Mountainview Cemetery in Harrogate, TN.  Rev. Matt Howard, Rev. Denny Hunter and Rev. Murphy Buell will be presiding.  Music will be provided by Thomasa Risner, Rev. Mike Sutton, Erica England, Tawanna Grimm, Amy and Matt Childress, Leah, Matt Howard and his daughters, Lakely and Madision.  Jim will be laid to rest in the Mountainview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Derek Thompson, Aaron Thompson, Austin Ribley, Keaton Thompson, Jeff Daugherty, Brian Hittepole, Cory Hittepole and Matt Howard.

The family request that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
