Hope Harp

Hope Elizabeth Harp, age 72, of Cumberland Gap, TN, was born on December 26, 1948, and passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, peacefully at her home.  She was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother.  She was a member of the Powell Valley Church of God.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Elmer Lee Harp, Jr; parents, Billy and Lula Cupp; sons, Don (Carolyn) Harp, Kenneth Harp and infant Ronnie Ray Harp; grandchildren, Amanda Gail Moyers and Alex Wayne Harp; Sisters, Diana, Freada, Cleada and Betty Jean; brother, Larry Bruce; Pastor of 43 years, Rev. Billy Paul; and special sister in Christ, Sister Langley.

She is survived by the following members of her family:

Daughters, Gail Moyers of Speedwell, TN, Margaret (Randy) Waldroop of Cumberland Gap, TN, Elissa Gilbert of Cumberland Gap, TN, Adrienne (Bob) Gilbert of Tazewell, TN, and Pat (Randy) Gilbert of Tazewell, TN.

Son, Elmer (Lisa) Harp of Tazewell, TN

21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 babies on the way

Sisters, Aleen (Johnny “Monkey”) Collins, Vonna Sue Degner, and Louise Cupp

Brothers, (Billy (Mary) Cupp, and Johnny (Becky) Cupp

And a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 6:00 p.m. until the funeral hour of 11:00 a.m., on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the Powell Valley Church of God Mountain Assembly in Speedwell, TN.  Rev. Ricky Braden will be officiating, and music will be provided by Linda Welch and the Powell Valley Church of God Mountain Assembly Choir.

Pallbearers will be BJ Gilbert, Dennis Moyers, Tyler Gilbert, Robert Gilbert, Matthew Gilbert, and Roger Gilbert.  Honorary pallbearers will be Peyton Harp, Andrew Holt, Randy Waldroop, Randy Gilbert, Bob Gilbert, Johnny “Monkey” Collins.

Burial will immediately follow in the Harrogate Cemetery in Harrogate, TN.
