Eugene Franklin “Frank” Funk, age 69, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 11, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a member of the Dunlap Baptist Church in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Arthur Franklin Funk and Virginia (Standifer) Funk. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Rebecca Ann Hall Funk.

He was survived by his children and their spouses: Dorothy (Michael) Aker and David Funk.

Brother: James (Judy) Funk of Willard, Ohio

Nephew: Benjamin Funk of Columbus, Ohio

Grandchildren: Matthew D. Sparks, Rebecca M. Sparks Phelps (David Phelps), Brandy M. Aker, Leanndra N. Aker, Gabriel A. Funk and great-grandson Hayden L. Sparks and a host of other family and friends.

He also was survived by his most recent wife Gelena (Saylor) Funk and a host of many other family members and friends.

He was a chain member for Middlesboro High School Football, custodian for Middlesboro Independent School Systems and Middlesboro/Bell County Public Library. He was an avid fisherman, and he loved all sports especially when the University of Tennessee Volunteers was playing. Most of all, he loved his heavenly father.

The family would like for everyone to know that he did not pass away from Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
