Wilburn Fletcher, Sr.

Wilburn Fletcher, Sr. (aka Chief, John and Big Papaw), passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2023. Wilburn was born in Pineville, KY on August 27, 1934.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lemuel and Lunda Fletcher of Frakes, KY; his loving wife, Lorette Fletcher; sister, Wilma Palmblatt; and brother, Wallace Fletcher.

He was a resident of Frakes, KY for 40 years before moving with his wife of 40 years, Loretta, to Speedwell, TN in 2015 after the announcement of and to live close to his grandchildren. Wilburn joined the US Army in 1957, where he served for two years.

Wilburn was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He loved his family deeply and showed it on a consistent basis. He adored his grandchildren and spoiled them daily. Tripp and Wrenly were his pride and joy and they adored and loved their Big Papaw with their whole hearts.

Wilburn is survived by his son, Wilburn Fletcher, Jr. (Sara); stepdaughter, Teresa Roark; stepsons, Rick Jones and Gary Jones; brother, Willard Fletcher of Frakes, KY/Speedwell TN; sister, Waunita Partin (Ray) of Wallhalla, SC; four grandchildren, Ashley George (Brian), Chase Roark, Wilburn Fletcher III (aka Tripp) and Wrenly Fletcher; and five nieces, Gloria Lynn, Donna, Diane, Kathleen, and Kristen; and a host of great nephews and nieces.

Graveside services for Wilburn will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the George Partin Cemetery behind Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Frakes, KY.  He will be laid to rest beside of his dear wife Loretta!
