Vivian Ann Woolum, age 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, in New Tazewell, TN. She was born on August 9, 1949, in Middlesboro, KY, the daughter of the late Richard Allen and Thelma Clementine Fifer.
Vivian devoted her life to nurturing and caring for others, both through her professional and personal endeavors. She was a very loving wife and mother, remembered for her warm heart and unwavering support. Vivian’s family was her pride and joy.
Vivian embarked on her career as a compassionate nurse and childbirth teacher, roles in which she provided invaluable support and care to countless families.
Later, she channeled her creativity and meticulous attention to detail into her work as a reborn artist, creating stunning lifelike baby dolls that brought joy and comfort to many. Her hobbies mirrored her professional life, focusing for many years on the art of creating reborn dolls. This pastime showcased her artistic abilities and her deep understanding of the nuances that bring art to life.
Vivian was a dedicated member of her church and deeply devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ. Her faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and interactions with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Allen and Thelma Clementine Fifer; her son, Richard Shane Carpenter; and her grandson, Laken Woolum.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Woolum; her sons, Todd Ellis (spouse Mickey) Carpenter, Joseph Collie (spouse Melissa) Carpenter, Terry Allen (spouse Mary Jo) Carpenter; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her stepchildren, Todd (Dena) Woolum, Amy (Roy) Brock, Holly McDougle (James Strable) and Luke Woolum (Amanda Schell); 11 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Vivian's life was marked by her unwavering kindness, her deep commitment to her family, and her profound faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The family of Vivian Ann Woolum will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Bryon Boger presiding.
Private interment will be held at the Jones Cemetery in Middlesboro, KY.
