It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Roy Taylor of Miracle, KY. Roy Taylor, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. He was born June 24, 1934, in Cubbage, KY, the son of the late Bill and Sarah Taylor.

He was a devoted member of Oakdale Baptist Church and was deeply loved by many. Known for his love of family, ability to tell stories, quick witted sense of humor and his love for God, as well as his church family.

Roy has always been a hard worker starting in the tobacco and corn fields as a young child, even helping his mom pedal chickens and eggs into coal mining camps.

At the age of 16, he went to work at Tidewater Construction Company saving enough money to help his mom and dad build a new house. At the age of 18, Roy moved to Michigan for employment and to raise his family. He was employed by Great Lakes Steel in Ecorse, MI from 1952 to 1988. He was drafted into the Army as a truck driver in 1960, serving 2 years and then returning to Great Lakes Steel to retire in 1988.

A devoted husband and father was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Sarah Taylor; his wife of 30 years, Edith Cupp Taylor; brothers, Hubert, Ray, Arles and C.B.; and sister, Locy.

He is survived by his brothers, Walter (Frances) Taylor and Luther (Maggie) Taylor; sisters, Aggie Vanover, Rosie Tibbets and Josie (Grant) Saylor. Roy is also survived by his children, Sherri Grove of Flat Rock, MI, Rhonda (Ray) Hannah of Morristown, TN, Kim (Steve) Baker of Miracle, KY and Brian Taylor of Ocklawaha, FL; grandchildren, David (Nicole) Grove, Jennifer (Jerry) Doute, Patrick (Amanda) Grove, Jamie (Philip) Meola, Renee (Eric) Rubin, Travis (Brittany) Weatherholt, Nicole (Mac) Alexandre, Scottie (Melissa) Goebbel, Chuck Goebbel and Sarah Goebbel; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Elena Grove, Jaylah Crain, Cameron Doute, Lucas and Avery Taylor Meola, Sophie Rubin, Payson and Easton Weatherholt, Reece and Riella Alexandre, Charlotte, Trypp, Isabelle and Tobias Roy Goebbel, Hunter and Robert Goebbel, and Savannah Abrams; and a host of other family and friends.

The family of Roy Taylor will receive friends on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor David Miracle officiating.

Reading of the obituary by Chaplain Steve Baker and reading by Sarah Goebbel. Music will be provided by the Oakdale Baptist Church Singers.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to the Taylor-Wilder Cemetery, Judge Hoskins Road, Cubbage, KY, where graveside services will be held with full military honors. David Grove, Patrick Grove, Travis Weatherholt, Scottie Goebbel, Chuck Goebbel and Warren Cupp will serve as pallbearers.
