Pauline Chadwell

December 23, 1930 — July 5, 2019

Pauline Nevils Chadwell was born December 23, 1930 in Forge Ridge, TN. Pauline passed away July 5, 2019. She was a resident of Gibson Station, VA, where she lived with her husband Harry Chadwell. She and Harry were married March 10, 1951, celebrating 68 years of marriage.
Survived by her husband Harry Chadwell, son Michael Lee Chadwell of Knoxville, TN, grandchildren Parker Lee Chadwell and twin sister, Haley Lynn Chadwell of Knoxville, TN and several nieces and nephews. Pauline is preceded in death by her parents Walter Patterson Nevils and Media Brooks Nevils, brother James Clyde Nevils and sister-in-law Nannie Mae Nevils, sisters Jeweline Nevils and Merlene Nevils.
Pauline was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church. For several years Pauline worked at JC Penney’s in Middlesboro, KY and loved helping her customer’s select beautiful clothes. Pauline’s greatest joy in life was her son Michael Lee Chadwell, and her grandchildren, Haley and Parker. Pauline enjoyed traveling across the USA with Harry and friends. She also loved traveling with her sister-in-law Nannie Mae and her nieces, Gayle and Sherrie and great nieces, Ashley, Kristen, Andrea and Emily. They traveled across Europe and Hawaii and had many laughs along the way.
Pauline was certainly known as a caretaker and was devoted to her husband and her mother, Media, after the death of her father, Walter. She also helped with her brother, Clyde, during the last years of his life. Pauline was often the first person to take food to sick neighbors and friends.
Pauline loved gardening and took pride in freezing silver queen corn and peanut green beans. Family and friends loved Pauline’s cooking, especially her famous fried chicken, chocolate pies and chocolate bar cakes. Her family could not wait until Christmas when she made her peanut butter rolls and peanut butter and chocolate fudge.
Pauline will be greatly missed by her family and friends and especially by her husband Harry. Pauline was never one to be in the front spotlight but to all who knew her, her light was a strong beacon.
The family gives special thanks to Pauline’s caretakers, Opal Johnson, Pat Redmond and all her Home Health Care nurses and also to Johnny Chadwell, Sherrie Claiborne and Dick Nevils.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 7, 2019 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at the Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 3:00pm in the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Walker officiating. Graveside services will begin immediately following in the Red Hill Cemetery.
