Paul "Pap" Parsons, age 78, of Pineville, KY, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in Hazard, Kentucky, leaving behind cherished memories and an enduring legacy. Born on November 12, 1947, he was the son of the late Delmar C. and Verna Hall Parsons.

Paul’s career as a coal mine operator in Bell, Harlan, and Leslie counties contributed meaningfully to the region and exemplified his hardworking spirit. In his leisure time, Paul was rarely found indoors—his passion for hunting and fishing took him frequently to the woods, where he found solace and joy, often exploring on his side by side. These pursuits brought together his love for nature and his appreciation of quiet moments in the Appalachian landscape.

To those who knew him, Paul will always be remembered for the love he radiated for his family and friends. His generous nature, steadfast support and warmth touched countless lives. Whether sharing a story, offering advice or enjoying time outdoors, Paul made sure those around him felt valued and cared for.

In addition to his beloved parents, Delmar and Verna Parsons, Paul joins in peaceful rest his siblings, Buck Parsons, Jack Parsons, Jerry Parsons, Sue Hembree and Betty Sturgill, as well as his sister-in-law, Debbie Evans.

Paul was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, friend, and confidante. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Evans Parsons, who stood by his side through every season. His memory will be kept alive by his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tonya Parsons, grandchildren, Mariah Parsons and Emily Parsons; and great-grandchildren, Leland Cruz and Karisma Ann Welborn.

Paul’s extended family includes many who held an important place in his heart, brothers- and sisters-in-law, Jerry Evans, Perry (Nancy) Evans, Carolyn (Herman) Hensley, Pearl (Kelvin) Tonks and Ernie (Velma) Davis; nephews, Brandon Evans, Matthew Hensley and Perry Evans, Jr.; and nieces, Kristin Hensley and Lori Ann. Paul also valued the friendships that enriched his days, especially those with Chuck Brock and the Wilder Gang. Each of these bonds was marked by kindness, care, and enduring respect.
