Patricia Renee Dean

Patricia Renee Dean, age 62, of Middlesboro, KY, entered her Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 20, 2026. She was born in Orlando, FL, on October 6, 1963, to Herbert Dean and LaGretta Maiden, who preceded her in death.

Renee was a devout member of the Pentecostal faith who would witness to anyone she had the chance to meet. She inherited her mother’s creative talents and loved to dabble in all types of craft projects. She especially enjoyed leading crafting activities at the Horizon Adult Day Health in Pineville, KY. Renee adored her daughter, grandchildren and great-granddaughter, doting on them whenever she had the chance. Her nurturing side was accompanied by a strength and toughness that developed at a young age, having to endure the endless mischief of her two younger brothers, Eric and Jordan.

In addition to her parents, Renee was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rev. Lewis and Irene Maiden; brother, Eric Dewayne Dean; aunts, Sara Litttrell and Phyllis Littrell; and special uncle, Kenny Dean.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sara (Phillip) Ownby; granddaughters, Hailey Ownby and Brianna Ownby; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Rose Ownby; fiancé, Scott Grubb-whose love and devotion brought great joy to her life; brothers, Jordan Herbert (Susan) Dean and Dan Wright; sisters, LeeAnn (Doug) Pendergraph and Lori Barrie; step-sister, Linda (Bill) Collingsworth; step-brother, Tony (Kathy) Francisco; special aunt, Sharron Maiden; and special nieces, Anabeth (Titus) Grizzle, Emily Dean, Mason (Joey) Montgomery, and Morgan (Chris) Blackburn as well as a host of aunts, uncles, other family and friends.

The family of Renee Dean would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors and staff at the Dialysis Services of Pineville, Pineville, KY, and the staff of Horizon Adult Day Health, Pineville, KY.

The family of Renee Dean will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Alva Robinson presiding.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held. 

Pallbearers will be Phillip Ownby, Mike Maiden, Jr., Hailey Ownby, Douglas Pendergraph, Jake Chicas, Junior Maiden and Greg Smith.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Kidney Health Alliance of Kentucky, 1517 Nicholasville Rd. UNIT 203, Lexington, KY 40503.
