Margaret Louise West

Margaret Louise West, age 89, of Middlesboro, KY, entered her Heavenly home on Sunday, January 18, 2026. She was born on April 18, 1936, in Gibson Station, VA to Howard and Lillie Mae Engle Laws, who preceded her in death.

Margaret dedicated her life to serving the Lord and others, both through her career and her personal endeavors. As a cafeteria employee at Middlesboro High School, she nourished thousands of students, often going the extra mile to provide additional support to those in need. Her compassion and kindness left a lasting impact on many young lives. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, known for her loving heart and selfless spirit. Her gift of nurturing even spilled over into her garden. She revealed a true green thumb in all the beautiful flowers that surrounded her home. 

A strong woman of faith, Margaret was a guiding light for her family and friends. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY, where she shared her joy of singing as part of the church choir. 

In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Eugene Oniska West; son, Larry West; grandson, Kevin Joe Brock; and several of her siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Debbie (Charles) Redmond, Eugenia Marie (Ron) Hale, Joe Oniska (Joy) West, Pamela Sue West, and Gary (Jodie) West; grandchildren, Joe “Odie” (Priscilla) West, Summer Heather (Danny Byrd) Redmond, Christopher Austin West, Cameron May, Braelyn West, Beronica Ashley Billings, and Lauren Faith West; great-grandchildren, Paris West and Tennessee West; siblings, Charles Laws, Shirley Rains, and Raymond Laws; and special niece, Karen LaRhonda West (Lawrence) Billings as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family of Margaret Louise West will receive friends on Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Reverend Keith Medley presiding. Music will be provided by the Trinity Baptist Church Singers.

Family and friends will meet on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 12:00 p.m., at Cawood Funeral Home to travel in procession to Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum where graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Austin West, Christopher West, Summer Redmond and Danny Byrd. Honorary pallbearer will be Charles Redmond.
