Maeona Combs

December 14, 1928 — June 15, 2019

Maeona Bailey Watkins Combs, known to most as ‘Sal’, age 90, of Middlesboro, KY, passed
away on Saturday, June 15, 2019. She was born in Blanche, KY, on December 14, 1928, the
daughter of the late Miracle and Carrie Bailey.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Maeona was a devoted teacher and retired from Yellow Creek Elementary School after teaching
for 36 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rex Watkins;
second husband, Harold V. Combs; brother, Arvil ‘Buck’ Bailey and sister-in-law, JoAnn Bailey;
brother-in-law, Irvin Franklin; and niece, Judy Franklin.


She will be greatly missed by her son, Art Watkins and wife Theresa; her granddaughter, Misty
Watkins Jackson and husband, Michael; her grandson, Andrew Watkins; her
great-grandchildren, Tenley Jackson and Parker Jackson; and her sister, Jewel Franklin. She
also leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends.


A graveside service for Maeona Combs will be held on Wednesday, June 19, at 11:00 AM, at
Green Hills Memorial Garden Mausoleum with Dr. William Boyd Bingham presiding.


Creech Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
