Luther Williford

March 16, 1958 — December 31, 2021

Chattanooga, TN

Luther Gregory Williford, age 63 ,of Chattanooga, TN passed away peacefully on Friday December 31, 2021 at his childhood home in Middlesboro, KY after a long battle with cancer.  He was born March 16, 1958, the son of Luther and Doris (Rector) Williford.

Luther is preceded in death by his father, Luther Williford, his grandparents, Charlie and Flossie Williford, Curtis and Reva Bennett, and Fred Rector.

Luther was raised in the Pentecostal faith.  In the last year he requested a Passover Dinner which he shared with family and neighbors.  Shalom, "peace", was prayed over him at this time.  He never lost his faith during his battle and knew that Heaven would be his eternal home.  He now has the peace he was seeking in the loving arms of Jesus.

Luther loved his friends dearly and his family fiercely.  He was a goodhearted, outgoing man, who would help anyone anytime.  Luther never met a stranger and was always more than happy to share one of his many stories to anyone that would listen.  He was a machinist by trade and worked for Master Machine in Chattanooga for many years.  He loved his work and enjoyed many relationships and friendships that he was able to make along the way during his career.  During his battle with cancer, Luther spent many hours sitting in front of his apartment or at the lake in the apartment complex getting to know many of his neighbors who became like family to him.  Luther's passion was fishing.  Throughout his life, Luther enjoyed fishing with friends, family or just on his own.  He was loved so much by all his family and friends and will be sorely missed by all.

Left to to mourn his passing are his mother Doris Williford, daughter Tasha (Scott) Skeen, grandchildren Ayden and Brennan Skeen and Hunter and Raymond Cousino, step-daughter Marsha (Bobby) Steers, step-daughter Christina (Raymond) Cousino, sister Charlotte (James) Houghton, niece Jennifer (Dewey) Owens, nephew Jason Howerton and a host of aunts, uncles and family members.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Bluegrass, Hearth Hospice, the staffs at Erlanger Cancer Center and Master Machine, and a special thank you to his loving niece, Jennifer, who cared for him in the final months of his battle.
