Lawrence Earl Durham, age 88, of Lexington, KY and formerly of Middlesboro, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021 at the University of Kentucky Bluegrass Hospice in Lexington, KY. He was born October 21, 1932 in Middlesboro, KY, the son of the late Fred and Susie Cox Durham. An ordained Church of God minister, he had pastored churches in Southern Ohio and Kentucky from 1964 until his retirement in 1995. A U.S. Army veteran, he honorably served his country in the Korean War. He was the owner/operator of L & R Tire and NAPA in Middlesboro for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Regina Fonn Paynter Durham and a sister; Ethel Pelfrey.
He is survived by the following members of his family:
Children: Regina Sue Wayman of Lexington, KY, Mitchell (Charlotte) Durham of Richmond, KY, David Durham of Lexington, KY, and Daniel (Lisa)Durham of Lakeland, FL.
Grandchildren: Bethany (Chad) Estes, Danielle (Dustin) Chan-Pong, Hannah (David) O’Callaghan, Lindsay Durham, Benjamin (Valerie) Durham, and Laura Durham.
Sisters: Joyce Smith and Sonja (Amos) Money
And a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family of Lawrence Durham will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Old Paris Road Church of God, 1859 Old Paris Road in Lexington, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021, at the Old Paris Road Church of God, 1859 Old Paris Road in Lexington, KY, with Rev. Jack Whitaker and Rev. Joseph Grant presiding.
Graveside services will be held at the Green Hills Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel in Middlesboro, KY at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021, with military honors being given by the Jellico Honor Guard.
All mandated Covid-19 regulations, including masks and social distancing, will be observed.
