Hubert "Porky" Powers

Hubert “Porky” Powers, age 77, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the University of KY Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born July 17, 1948, the son of the late Herbert Powers and Mamie Helton Powers.

Porky was a well-respected figure in his community, known for his years of dedication as the operator of Porky’s Sport Center in Middlesboro, KY. Throughout his career, he had the opportunity to meet and mentor many young men, leaving a lasting impression on their lives, often considering them as his own sons.

He held a deep love for his family, particularly enjoying precious moments spent with his beautiful grandchildren. Porky loved eating a good watermelon and cheering for his favorite UK sports team. His joyful spirit shined brightly in his interests and pursuits. He also had a zest for traveling to various locations to participate in friendly competitions at the billiard tables.

In addition to his parents, Porky was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gertrude Mayes Powers; brothers, Roy Lee Powers and William Powers; sisters, Mary Thacker, Rose Martin and Tina Yoakum; infant grandson, Oliver Allen; and his very special close friend, Doug Davis.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Leslie Powers; stepdaughters, Annette Parker and Shannon Baker; grandchildren, Izabelle “Izzy” Willis, Molly Roe, Christopher Marsee, Lindsey Brock, Gage Jones and Adam Holman; as well as four great, grandchildren.

A memorial service for Hubert “Porky” Powers will be announced in the near future.

He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know him.
