Harley Hatfield

Harley Gene Hatfield, age 77, of Harrogate, TN, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2019. He was born on September 9, 1941 in Lee County, VA, the son of the late Clayton and Effie (Dixon) Hatfield of Harrogate, TN.

He was saved at an early age and was of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the Red Hill Baptist Church and he was retired from General Motors in Pontiac, MI. When he retired, he moved back to Claiborne County, where he loved to farm.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 37 years, Virginia (Surber) Hatfield; daughter, Ginger Hatfield; brother, Wayne Hatfield; sister, Coleen Louthan; and brother-in-law, Karl Louthan.

He is survived by his son, Rocky and wife Betty Hatfield of Harrogate, TN; daughter, Valeria Hatfield of Buckholts, TX; sisters, Bertha (Vince) Surber, Oleen (Meryl) Rodgers; all of Harrogate, TN; Barbara (Paul) Taylor, and Frances Hatfield and Bob Griffin of Tazewell, TN; brothers, Leonard (Linda) Hatfield, and Clayton Jr. (Carolyn) Hatfield, all of Harrogate, TN; grandchildren, Aaron (Mackenzie) Hatfield, Nikkie (Derick) Grabeel, Travis (Elizabeth) Daniels, Diana Daniels and Darlene (John) Manis; great-grandchildren, Avery, Asher and Payson Hatfield, Hadlee and Harrison Grabeel, Peyton and Bryan Daniels, Brandon, Lily and Abigail Manis; and Chyanne Parker; special friend, Ronnie Edds; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jessie Leo Surber and Leon Surber presiding. Music will be provided by the Red Hill Baptist Church singers. Pallbearers will be Aaron Hatfield, Travis Daniels, Joey Pace, Avery Hatfield, Derick Grabeel and Tony Daniels. Graveside service will immediately follow in the Surber Family Cemetery on Mt. Zion Road, in Tazewell, TN.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Creech Funeral Home.
