Gloria Jean Brown Compton “Jeanne”

Gloria Jean Brown Compton “Jeanne,” age 72, of New Tazewell, TN, passed away on Monday, January 26, 2026, at Fort Sanders (Select) in Knoxville, TN, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 26, 1953, in Middlesboro, KY, and was the beloved daughter of the late Sherman Roscoe and Effie Ida Matthews Brown.

Jeanne was a devout member of Bennett’s Fork Baptist Church in Middlesboro, KY, where she received her salvation. Her life was marked by unwavering dedication as a loving wife for over fifty years, a nurturing mother for forty-one years, and a cherished grandmother for seventeen years. She was also a beloved sister, touching the lives of those around her for seventy-two years.

Throughout her years, she was known for her warmth and generosity, loving the wayward. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and loyalty. Jeanne will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who walk in her light.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by her four-month-old granddaughter, Charlee Jean Paul; her husband of twenty-seven years, Hubert Sam Compton; her nephew, Charlie Compton; and special friends, Ronnie and Sun Partin.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-five years, David Turner; daughter, Jessica Compton (Michael) Paul; granddaughter and best friend, Kylee Grace Frazier; grandson, Brantlee William Paul; brothers, Wayne Brown and Ronnie (Janice) Brown; sisters, Joyce (“Squeak”) Estep and Carol Napier; stepdaughter, Samantha Compton Robertson; step-granddaughter, McKinzie Frazier; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Though she may no longer be with us in body, her spirit will forever remain in our hearts forever.

The family of Gloria Jean Brown Compton “Jeanne” will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., on Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Michael Paul presiding.

Family and friends will meet at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at the Chadwell Cemetery, Harrogate, TN (Forge Ridge) where graveside services will be held. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
