Edward Lee Simpson

Edward Lee Simpson, age 57, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 10, 2026. He was born December 4, 1968, the cherished son of the late Everett Samuel and Frances Lucille Daniels Simpson.

Lee was known for his kind heart, his easygoing nature, and the quiet strength he offered to those around him. He was happiest when spending simple, quality time with his family, sharing a good laugh with friends, and watching his grandchildren grow.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his son, Cody Simpson; aunts and uncles, Jeanette (Arnold) Smallwood, Trula Ferrell, Rowland Partin and Earl Daniels; and his cousins, Donna Raines and David Earl Daniels.

Lee was a devoted family man who centered his life around those he loved. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Donna Hamblin Hoover; his son, Shaun Simpson; and his stepchildren, Louann Napier Hoover and Shyann (Scott) Lambdlin. He was a proud grandfather to his special grandchildren, Gunner and Abby Napier, and Raylynn and Bentley Lambdlin, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is also survived by his sister, Connie Lynn Frost; his brother, Matthew James (Jeanette) Simpson; and a special aunt, Thelma Partin, all of Middlesboro, KY. He also leaves behind his uncles, Stanley Daniels (Sherry Napier), and Larry (Imogene) Daniels; and his best friend, Frank Brock as well as a large host of beloved nieces, nephews, other family, and dear friends.

Lee's warmth, laughter, and steady presence leave a void that can never be filled, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

The family of Lee Simpson will receive friends on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Rick Braden presiding.

At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel to the Pruden Cemetery, Pruden, KY, where graveside services will be held. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
