Donald Lee Buttery

Donald Lee Buttery, age 76, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2026. He was born in Middlesboro, KY, on April 28, 1950, to the late Don and Gladys Partin Buttery. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Don was a hardworking and dedicated businessman, who proudly owned and operated Buttery’s Floor Covering, Middlesboro, KY, for 56 years. Away from work, he cherished time spent at the lake, where he found peace, laughter, and memories with family and friends. As a longtime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 119, he valued the friendships of its members and the organization’s commitment to community service. Don was a competitive bowler who never turned down the chance to challenge a willing opponent. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places and was an avid NASCAR fan. His love for the sport was so great that he lived in Florida for a time to be closer to the racetrack and the excitement that surrounded it.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by two cherished friends with whom he shared an especially close bond, Dallas Shackelford and Marshall Shackelford.

Don is survived by his sons, Tim (Kathy) Buttery and Josh (Stacy) Buttery; daughter, Dr. Felicia Buttery Meyers; grandchildren, Blake Carpenter Buttery, Holden Buttery, Devin Buttery, Sara Kaylee Buttery, Madison Buttery, Waylon Meyers, Georgia Meyers, and Juniper Meyers; siblings, Doris Buttery Turner, Kathern Buttery (Jack) McCann, Eddie Buttery, Chucky Buttery, and Sheila Buttery; special cousin, Rick Buttery; and close friend, Dexter Honeycutt as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The family of Don Buttery will receive friends on Monday, June 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 p.m., with Reverend David King presiding.  Music will be provided by Roger Leach, Linda Leach, and Jordan Lee King.  

At the conclusion of the funeral service, friends and family will travel in procession to Yeary Cemetery, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held.

Pallbearers will be Derek Smith, Cody Smith, Holden Buttery, Blake Carpenter, Devin Buttery, Travis Lynch and Shawn Wyrick.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Kleusman, Brian Cass, Chucky Buttery, Rick Buttery, Eddie Buttery, Curt Smith, Bo Carpenter and Walter Allen
