Debbie Jean McCombs, age 87, of Middlesboro, KY, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, March 27, 2024. She was born on April 26,1936, in Middlesboro, KY, to the late Julius and Mildred Ballenger.
Debbie was a long-time member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY, where she was a member of the Missionary Society. Debbie was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan. In fact, she enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, especially golf, baseball, and tennis. Debbie was a beloved member of the community where she was affectionately called “Aunt Debbie” by many. She truly loved her family and cherished time spent with her nieces and nephews. Her son Joey, and granddaughters, Makala and Khloe, were her world!
In addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Mitchell McCombs, and sisters, Velma Foster and Annetta Williams.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Joseph “Joey” McCombs , Harriman, TN; daughter, Sharon Thompson, Middlesboro, KY; seven grandchildren, including special granddaughters, Christina Thompson, Makala McCombs and Khloe McCombs; six great-grandchildren; brother Edward (Carrie) Ballinger, Middlesboro, KY; sister, Alberta (Richard) Blackburn, Middlesboro, KY; and special friend, Crystal Rogers as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Debbie also shared a special kinship with Hope Poland, Doug Ritter, and Christy Herron.
The family of Debbie Jean McCombs would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassionate care.

The family of Debbie Jean McCombs will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. with Officiant, Pastor Mark A. Clark.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will follow in procession to the Mausoleum at Green Hills Memorial Gardens, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be Richard Barnett, Richard Blackburn, Jr., Roger Cleveland, Byron Costner, James Drake, Doug Ritter, and Brian Williams.
