David Smith
December 10, 1944 — March 19, 2019
David C. Smith, age 74, of Pineville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his home. He was born on December 10, 1944, the son of the late Alexander Luther Smith and Myrtle Elizabeth Reed Smith. He was the Minister of The Church of God New World Ministy and he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a great athlete and was a part of the Chicago White Sox. He proudly served his country in the Vietnam War as a United States Marine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Buford Smith, Buddy Smith, Al Smith, Brian Smith and Bruce Smith; Sisters, Mary Sue Locke, Gloria Irby and Marilyn Smith.
He is survived by the following members of his family: his loving wife of 44 years, Gale Smith; daughter, Kristie (Marshall) Wilson; grandchildren, Katherine Alexander Wilson and Wyatt Evan Wilson; sisters, Margie Grout, Joy Birch and Louise Kelly; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at the Pineville Cemetery with Rev. George Trent presiding. Military honors will be given by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made in David’s honor to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
