Charles Prater, Sr.

June 7, 1942 — November 11, 2019

Charles Jerome Prater, Sr., age 77, of New Carlisle, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2019. He was born on June 7, 1942, the son of the late James Rufus and Anna Bell Prater.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara Jean Prater.

He is survived by his sister, Patricia Latham; brother, James (Mike) Prater; children, Gloria (Gary) Clark, Leda (Jim) Martin, Charles J. (Rebecca) Prater, and Bill Jean Prater; 12 grandchildren, Rhiannon, Cierra, Jessica, Charles J. III, Wesley, Kyle, Benjamin, Charley, Bridget, Alex, Josh and Gage; 10 great grandchildren, Elaina, Rosalyn, Noah, Henry, Chase, Jameson, Aurora, Ayden, Nolan and Waylon; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel in Middlesboro, KY. Funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon with Rev. Johnny Griffith presiding. Pallbearers will be Gage Melton, Wesley Henderson, Kyle Clark, Cpl. Joshua Martin, Alex Prater, Jim Martin and Gary Moore. Immediately following, Charles will be laid to rest, with his wife, in the beautiful mountains at Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Middlesboro, KY.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the health care team at the Springfield Regional Hospital for their care and support.
