Carolyn Sue Gray

Carolyn Sue Gray, 75, of Middlesboro, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Morristown Hamblen Hospital in Morristown, Tennessee.

She was born on May 5, 1950, in Middlesboro, where she was raised, surrounded by her large family. Carolyn graduated from Middlesboro High School and went on to attend Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1978. Carolyn devoted her entire nursing career to Middlesboro ARH. She began her work in labor and delivery and ultimately retired as the Operating Room Director.

Carolyn was a devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend. She loved her daughters, Teresa Gray and Suzanne Mickey, but ADORED her granddaughter, Jordan Mickey, above all. Her greatest pride was Jordan's choice to follow in her "MomMom's" professional career as a registered nurse.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie England Mink; sisters, Margie Mink, Mary Adcock, and Vicki Houk; and brother, Roy Mink.

She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Gray and Suzanne Mickey (Eddie); granddaughter, Jordan Mickey (Ryan Shanks-whom she equally considered her grandchild; sisters, Lena Barnett and Kathy Christian; Terry Sellers, whom she dearly loved; and brother-in-law, Benny Adcock, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
