Bobby George Hyde

October 4, 1949 — May 21, 2024

Bobby George Hyde, age 74, of Tazewell, TN, passed from this life, suddenly, at his home on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, after battling years of lung cancer.  He was born October 4, 1949, in Harlan, KY to Robert Hyde and Ruby Mae Hyde Lunsford.

Bobby was a graduate of Evarts High School, Evarts, KY.  After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served for four years.  At the conclusion of his active duty, Bobby returned to Harlan, KY, and enrolled in the Harlan Vocational School, where he learned how to do body work on cars.  After completing the program, Bobby left Harlan and moved to Michigan to work.  However, his roots in the mountains were strong and he relocated to Tennessee, making it his home. He worked several different jobs until he began his career at England’s Furniture, Tazewell, TN where he retired after 27 years, just shortly before his passing.  He was a dedicated, hard-working man who took pride in his job.  While battling lung cancer, he would schedule chemotherapy treatments at the Baker Cancer Center in Harrogate, TN during the evenings so that he would not have to miss work.

Bobby is remembered as a very likeable and loving person who always enjoyed joking around.  Anytime you met him, even when he wasn’t feeling his best, he offered a smile that would brighten your day.  He will be sadly missed.

Bobby was preceded in death by his most precious mother, Ruby Mae Hyde Lunsford and his father, Robert Hyde; his baby sister, Iva Sue Hyde; and his brother-in-law, who he loved like a brother, Gary Bolin.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving companion of over 15 years, Vivian Mayes and her children, who he loved, Julie Nelson, Jamie Nelson, Amy Frye, and Clayton Fry; his daughters, Marah Danielle Hyde of Etowah, TN, who was the apple of his eye, and Kimberly Hyde of California; a stepson, that he helped raise and who also joined the U.S. Navy, Jimmy Adams; his loving sister, Mary Bolin of Coxton, KY; his nephews, who he loved dearly, Dustin Bolin of Rosspoint, KY, Garett Bolin, Sr. of Evarts, KY; great-niece, Kayla Bolin; and great-nephews, Garett Bolin, Jr. and Lawton Bolin.  Bobby leaves behind many friends he made along the way, his childhood friend, Donnie Harrison, who was like his brother and who joined and served in the Navy with him, his good friend Danny Branson, and Buck Whitaker, who he always spoke very highly of, as well as many of his co-workers he worked beside at England’s Furniture.
