Billy Ray Jackson, age 81, of Middlesboro, KY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Blackmont, KY, on May 22, 1944, to Millie North Mayo and raised by his parents, Abe and Aunt Millie Jackson.
Billy Ray served his country as a proud member of the United States Army. He attended the 30th Street Church of God, Middlesboro, KY, and Trinity Full Gospel Church, Middlesboro, KY. Billy Ray worked at Wakin Brothers’ Grocery in Middlesboro, KY, for many years before his employment at Duraline, from which he retired in 2004.
Billy Ray was preceded in death by his grandson, Clayton Jackson, Jr.; parents, Abe and Aunt Millie Jackson, and birthmother, Millie Mayo North.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Reda Jackson; children, Billy and Lisa Jackson, Clayton and Jewel Jackson, Scott and Hattie Murrell, and Linda Jackson; grandchildren, Nick and McKenzie Smith Murrell, Samantha Murrell and John Manis, Andrew Jackson, Raven Jackson, William Sturgill, Justin Sturgill, Elizabeth Jackson, Candice and Mathew Tigue; great-grandchildren, Keily Grace Manis, Zoey Manis, Josie Murrell, Dawson Tigue, Paxton Tigue, and Sawyer Tigue; and sisters, Hattie Stanley, of Dearborn, MI, Dorothy Shields, of Loving, MI, and Jessie Misiak, of Pahrump, NV, as well as a host of other family and friends.
The family of Billy Ray Jackson will receive friends on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Cawood Funeral Home Chapel, Middlesboro, KY. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Kersey presiding. Music will be provided by Travis Owens.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, family and friends will travel in procession to Smith Cemetery, Middlesboro, KY, where graveside services will be held.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
