Betty Jean Barnett

Betty Jean Barnett, age 82, of Tazewell, TN, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Middlesboro Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Middlesboro, KY,  surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in MIddlesboro, KY, on November 27, 1942, to the late Floyd Cupp and Bernice Miracle England.  

Betty was a kind, outgoing soul who never met a stranger.  Her family was her greatest joy and her love for them was unwavering.  

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her grandmother, Elizabeth Marsee, and special friend, Dovie Rose, her fishing buddy.  

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 64 years, Colin Barnett; children, Tika (Layne) McGinnis of Washburn, TN, Darin (Judy) Barnett of Middlesboro, KY, Todd Barnett of Tazewell, TN, and Tia (Dr. Richard) Barnett of Cumberland Gap, TN; grandchildren, Chad Shackleford, Seth Barnett, Miranda Barnett, Erika (Justin) Barnett, Joshua (Ashten) Barnett, Hannah Barnett, Kohl Barnett, Tyler Barnett, Zach Barnett, Sarah Barnett, and Allyson (Hayden) Barnett; sixteen great-grandchildren and special friend, Judy Brookshire, who was like a sister to her.
