Paul Connor Cawood, Jr. is the grandson of the funeral home's founder, Hobart Cawood. After growing up in the family's funeral business, Cawood Funeral Home, Paul went on to own and operate several other businesses in the Tri-State area. He brings decades of valuable management experience to his duties at Cawood which include, managing business operations. He is currently serving his funeral director and embalmer apprenticeship in the process of becoming a Kentucky licensed funeral director and embalmer.
Bill Bisceglia is a licensed funeral director and embalmer at Cawood Funeral Home. At the funeral home, he spends his days meeting with families of the deceased, making funeral arrangements, and working visitations and funerals. He has worked at Cawood Funeral Home since 1979. He is passionate about the industry and loves people and working with families in need. He jokingly admits that his grandchildren are his weakness, and in his free time he enjoys spending time at Norris Lake with his family.
Lucas Barton is a licensed funeral director at Cawood Funeral Home. A 2015 graduate of Bell County High School and a 2017 graduate of Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College where he obtained an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree focused on Funeral Service Education. He has been at Cawood Funeral Home since November of 2013 and credits his ability to bring comfort to people in their most difficult times as an asset in his current role. Lucas works directly with families by assisting with arrangements, attending visitations and funerals, and often also by working in the office answering phone calls and working with the database system. When not in the funeral home or at school, Lucas loves attending church and spending time with his family.
Melissa L. Yeary of Middlesboro, KY has been a resident of Bell County her entire life. Melissa is the daughter of Arthur “Buddy” Yeary and LouEdith Gordon Yeary, the proud mother of two sons Mark Comparoni and Peter Comparoni. She has one sister Marcia and one nephew Tipton Hembree. She is a member of the Hensley's Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She is a 1984 graduate of Middlesboro High School, a 1989 graduate of Lincoln Memorial University with a BS and a 2008 graduate of Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science with a Associate in Funeral Service. Melissa has been dedicated to the funeral industry since 2006 and holds a Funeral Director/Embalmer license in the states of Kentucky and Tennessee. She has devoted herself to the service of families and takes great pride in her job.
Alice Harris is the operations manager at Cawood Funeral Home. At the funeral home, she works in the office greeting families, works with our database system, answers phone calls, and assists our current directors with serving our families. Before becoming a member of the Cawood Funeral Home family, Alice served as the HR/administrative assistant at the JRS Restaurant Corporation (KFC) and prior to that, the administrative assistant at the Bell County Chamber of Commerce. Alice also prides herself as being a very involved member of the Bell County community in the past. She had volunteered in various organizations such as the Bell County Relay for Life, Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival and Discover Downtown Middlesboro. During her free time, Alice loves to spend time with her family and friends, especially her grandson Kasen and her granddaughter Raelynn.
Alonzo Miracle is a licensed funeral director, but these days focuses his time and efforts on being the resident “funeral home attendant.” He is widely recognized and known in the community, and greets everyone who visits Cawood Funeral Home. Alonzo worked for the Pontiac Motor Division of General Motors and retired with 30 years of service. During a visitation, Alonzo greets families when they arrive and answers any questions that they may have to the best of his ability. He is also a minister who enjoys comforting, helping and encouraging people. He feels that his first hand experience with loss is beneficial because he has lost several loved ones and knows how the families feel. When he is not working, Alonzo enjoys spending time with his family and the people at church.
